Why does TPO waterproof membrane perform better than TPO waterproof membrane after being compounded with steel plate?

After TPO (thermoplastic polyolefin) waterproofing membrane is combined with steel plate, its performance is better than that of a single TPO waterproofing membrane, mainly for the following reasons:

The steel plate increases the weight and stability of the system, reducing the risk of TPO coils shifting or falling off in strong winds, thereby enhancing the overall wind resistance.

4. Better thermal expansion and contraction control

A single TPO material may experience significant thermal expansion and contraction when faced with temperature changes. However, after the steel plate is combined with TPO, this effect can be effectively reduced due to the low expansion of the steel plate, making the entire waterproof layer fluctuate greatly in temperature. It remains stable despite the situation and avoids cracking or delamination.

5. Improve carrying capacity

The load-bearing capacity of composite materials has been improved, especially in scenarios where the waterproof layer needs to bear a certain amount of weight (such as roof equipment installation, etc.). The composite TPO and steel plate can provide additional support to ensure that the waterproof layer does not hold up under long-term pressure. Damage will occur.
